Under 18s Go Free at Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery

We are delighted to announce an exciting new initiative inviting young museum-goers to explore the world of art and history with free general admission for all under 18s, starting from December 16, 2023. Under 18s Go Free has been made possible through the invaluable support of the Tansy Trust.

“Under 18s Go Free is a significant step in the right direction to open our galleries to all. We are very aware of the current financial challenges and are thrilled that Under 18s Go Free will make our galleries and exhibitions more accessible to families and young people, in time for the upcoming holiday break and then throughout our 25th Birthday year.”  Dan McWilliam, Museum Director

The launch of Under 18s Go Free coincides with the upcoming school holidays, offering families a more affordable way to entertain their children over the seasonal break. The initiative reflects Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery’s commitment to accessibility, fostering education, and inviting young museum-goers to their galleries.

We invite young visitors to explore our newest exhibition, Sarah Butterfield: Dusk and Dawn in The Solent, with impressionist-landscapes capturing the ‘fireworks of the sky’ over the Hampshire coastline. Join us before 23 December 2023 to catch the final week of Gyles Brandreth: Fun and Fabulous Jumpers with festive knits of the Autumn/Winter collection as well as The Edward Barnsley Workshop: A 100 Years of Craft highlighting a selection of craftsman pieces made from the Workshop of one of the most important British furniture makers of the 20th Century.

Free admission for under-18s will continue into the new year to celebrate 25 years of Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery. We invite museum visitors of all ages to join in on the excitement of our upcoming Peggy Guggenheim: Petersfield to Palazzo exhibition 15 June-05 October 2024. Learn more about the extraordinary life of Peggy Guggenheim, the 20th-century self-proclaimed ‘art addict’ who called Yew Tree Cottage near Petersfield home from 1934 to 1939.

Special Note: While this offer extends to general admission, please know it does not apply to the Festive Family Fun Day event on December 22, 2023.
