Situated in the heart of the South Downs National Park, Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery tells the story of Petersfield and the surrounding villages through an excitingly diverse mix of archaeology, art, fashion, literature, photography, poetry and social history.
Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery is an accredited, independent museum and registered charity dedicated to preserving history and celebrating the arts since 1999. We are housed in a rare example of a restored Victorian Justice Heritage site comprising the town’s former police station and courthouse. Our collection displays include archaeology, social history, and photography relating to Petersfield and the surrounding area.
Art, fashion, poetry, and literature are celebrated through exhibitions of items from the Flora Twort Art Collection and the Fashion and Textiles Collection, alongside a temporary exhibition programme. We are also home to the Edward Thomas Study Centre with the Tim Wilton-Steer Collection, a special assembly of works that celebrate the poet Edward Thomas.
Through our exhibitions and events, we believe in creating a cultural space for all, bringing people together and offering everyone the opportunity to enjoy history and the creative arts.
