We are always happy to welcome visiting groups to the Museum and Art Gallery. Whether an organised coach trip, a stopping off point for cyclists, or members of a group, we work hard to make sure you have the best experience.

If you are planning a visit to the Museum and Art Gallery as a group of 10 people or more, we ask you to contact us in advance so we can tailor the visit to your needs.

Museum Tours

Take a tour around the Museum and Art Gallery, shedding light on the stories we tell and how we tell them. These tours are designed for small groups, but larger groups can be accommodated with staggered timings. We offer two different Museum Tours:

Welcome to Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery

A 45-minute introduction to the Museum and Art Gallery, looking at how our historical site has had many uses over the centuries and the story of how it finally became a ‘Museum and Art Gallery of Tomorrow’.

Behind the Scenes at Petersfield Museum and Art Gallery

A two-hour, all-access tour around the Museum and Art Gallery. Discover all about the stories we tell and how we tell them with a detailed tour of the Museum and its collection stores. This is an access-all areas pass that takes you to places usually off-limits to visitors.

Historical Walks

We offer historical walks around the town of Petersfield on a variety of different subjects. Topics include: The Archaeology of Petersfield; The History of Petersfield; The Changing Face of Petersfield High Street; Petersfield and Alcohol: A Long Friendship; Famous Faces of Petersfield; and Beating the Bounds: The Medieval Boundary of Petersfield.

Outreach 

We are always excited to take our stories out on the road. We are able to offer a variety of talks and performances that bring the history of Petersfield and the surrounding area to you!

Talks 

Our outreach talks are delivered by engaging and informative speakers and utilise PowerPoint presentations and objects from our handling collection. Talks last for an hour and include time for questions at the end. Please get in touch for a full list of topics.

Performances

Bring history to life at your event! Our unique outreach performances bring the Victorian Justice system alive. The performances are based on real Victorian cases heard in our Courthouse. Performances last 45 minutes and include time for questions at the end.
