From celebrating the artists of the South Downs region to showcasing internationally renowned craftsmanship, there is something for everyone to enjoy in 2025.

Exhibitions
Start the year with our South Downs Open exhibition, a stunning selling exhibition featuring nearly 150 artworks by our talented artistic community across the region. Cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award and take the opportunity to purchase high-quality, affordable art!
Later in February, delve into the world of Roger Powell OBE in Bound Together: Modern British Bookbinding. Explore the life and work of internationally renowned bookbinder Roger Powell, whose work on exquisite books from his Froxfield bindery transformed the knowledge of bookbinding for generations. An accompanying exhibition of over 20 uniquely bound books by members of Designer Bookbinders will showcase the extraordinary design and skill of many of today’s leading contemporary bookbinders.
Our exhibition-related event programme includes tours, workshops and documentary screenings along with our new exhibition. Enjoy a conversation-led tour for a deeper look at our current exhibition with our Head of Collections and Exhibitions, Louise Weller. Try your hand at our art and creative workshops to experience the artistry of calligraphy, bookbinding and the ancient skill of paper marbling inspired by Bound Together. Explore the fascinating world of bookbinding with documentary screenings looking at the extraordinary careers of Bernard C. Middleton and Maureen Duke.
Live Music & Theatre
Experience our historic music venue with acoustic and folk concerts from local and internationally touring bands. Join us as we groove into the New Year with performances by the international music phenomenon, Piazzolla Duo, Poetry in Motion with an Open Mic Night to enjoy jazz and local poetry, returning to our venue folk musician Amy Goddard and acclaimed folk duo The Kimberleys.
Mark your calendar for our theatre productions, including Chopped Liver and Unions, an empowering drama about Sara Wesker’s fight for workers’ rights and The Silence of Snow, Mark Farrelly’s gripping portrayal of writer Patrick Hamilton.

We start the year off with our second annual Brick Fest! celebrating International Lego ® Day and shining a spotlight on our hometown treasure, Minibrix. Don’t miss out on our free Retro Games Days, where you can journey down memory lane and test your skills with our lineup of classic video games for drop-in and play sessions. For monthly creative time with the family, be sure to book early to our free Creative Saturday Workshops inspired by our exhibitions and Collection displays.
Created with Under 5’s in mind, book in for our weekly free Mischief Makers for open play in our Museum and Art Gallery spaces. Just in time for Easter, join our Toddler Takeover XIII: The Easter Bunny’s Bonanza! for seasonal crafts, egg hunts and our Bunny Hop Disco.
